Why I chose to change the name of my business

In January of this year, I made the choice to change the name of my business. The choice just felt right, like it was something I should do now. I wanted my business to be known as an extension of me, as something that I love and also encompasses all the things that I love.

The why

Those things could range from coffee to puppies, to Mexican food and house projects with Justin. I want to put more of myself into my business so when a client looks at my blog or Instagram, they feel like they know me. Of course, I want them to also like my photos and style, but it’s so much easier to work with someone when you know a little bit about them. I ask so many questions of my clients, and I have the opportunity to be a part of so many amazing moments, like weddings and births, that I think it is only fair that they feel like they get to know a bit about me as well.

Rocky Branch Road is still incredibly important to me. It holds so many incredible memories, and there are so many more to make there. It is where we will be getting married and it is one of my favorite locations for photographs. But, it was time that my business was more about me than about a memory.

Some things you may or may not know

I love dogs. We have a two-year-old pup, Banner, and he is spoiled rotten. I keep telling Justin that he needs a puppy brother, and I send him photos of dogs up for adoption pretty much daily. Even if we are sitting next to each other on the couch. Earlier this year, he almost got me a puppy for my birthday because he was having trouble coming up with a gift idea.

I could eat Mexican food every day of the week. My pants would not like it, but my taste buds would. I love chips and salsa, queso, and just about everything one could order off the menu. Our family goes to El Toro in Higginsville so often that my nephew goes to the kitchen to say hello to the guys back there.

I have a coffee addiction that I have no plans to get rid of. Hot, iced, black, with cream, espresso – I want it all. I love the smell of coffee, and going into coffee shops is always a joy. My mom waits outside. She cannot stand that smell. I think I get it from my father, who will drink almost a whole pot in the mornings.

Justin and I love renovating and creating things for our home. Since I moved in in December of 2014, we have painted the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and back bedroom; upgraded the cabinets; tiled the kitchen floor; and installed a  backsplash in the kitchen. The tiling was all Justin, I just kept Banner out of the way. 🙂 Justin has also built several of the furniture pieces in our home. We have our eyes on upgrading the bathroom next, and actually purchased some tile last weekend.

The point of all this

I hope this post helps you get to know a bit more about me, and I hope you will give me the chance to get to know a little bit more about you. I would love to photograph your special moments. 🙂
