Our wedding details

Bride tribe went into hibernation for a bit for the holidays, but now it is back in full swing! So, I am kicking off the 2018 Bride Tribe series with our wedding details. I wanted to share them because I love them and I wanted to explain why I thought they were important to have on our big day.

Organization of all our wedding details

This right here is a big one. The bride should keep all of the rings (engagement and both wedding bands) with her at the start of the day. Getting all of the details photographed goes so much smoother with everything in one place. For our wedding, I had a photo box from Joann’s that I placed the rings, invitations, envelops, programs, my garter, and my jewelry in so when Mike and Julie showed up, I just had to hand them that. We also had a box that we put all of Justin’s things in that included his bow tie, pocket square, cuff links, and the watch I gave him on our wedding day.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

Traditions and superstitions are funny things, but I enjoyed incorporating this tried and true one into our wedding day. My something old was my great-grandmother’s locket that my Mema says her mother wore to church every Sunday. I actually borrowed two things, my Grandma’s wedding ring, and the first ring my Dad gave to my Mom. Something new would be my dress and shoes. The something blue was the ribbon used to wrap my flowers.

Photographing those details, along with any jewelry, is important to me. These small things are a part of your big day and go into telling the story of the wedding.

The flowers

If you’re using fresh flowers, your photographs of the day might be the only way you have to remember your bouquet as it was. There are options for preserving your bouquet, but make sure to plan ahead if that is something you want. I just hung mine to dry and it now sits in a vase on a high shelf in my office. But, I am so glad I have pictures to be able to view it in all it’s glory.

Our cake topper

For some, this might not be an important detail, but it was a favorite of our wedding details. For Justin and I, it was another opportunity to add some more of “us” into the wedding day. We loved the individuality of it, and we so happy we ordered it.
