Kody is part of the Slater, Mo., 2016 graduating class, and we waited until this spring to squeeze his session in so that he could be braces-free. We spent some time one Saturday afternoon at his grandparent’s farm in Slater. It was absolutely beautiful. I love when the locations of the photos can add some sentimental value to the images. Kody was able to drive his truck down into the creek bed, so we had a one-of-a-kind location.

Kody’s photos in the creek bed are some of my favorites, and it is such a unique location. I also love all his photos with his dog, Belle.
There were so many gorgeous areas we were able to photograph in that day. It was so great having so many options at one location! As a Concordia, Missouri photographer, most of my sessions are in rural locations, but I love that no two locations are identical. There

Kody is an avid hunter, and wanted some photos with his bow and gun to commemorate how important hunting is to him.

This is one of my favorite locations we photographed Kody in. The trees behind him in the picture on the right diffuse the backlighting perfectly.

Kody’s mom suggested a we capture a few images in the hay barn before going down to the pond, and I thought it was a great idea. I like the symmetry of the hay bales behind Kody, and think they add an interesting element to the photos.
I also enjoyed how prepared Kody and his mom were for numerous outfit changes so that we could get a wide variety of images – although most of the images on the blog are from the last part of the session, Kody had a couple other shirts/locations that we were able to photography him in.

This location was something I saw on our way to the creek, and thought the leading lines of the fence might be fun to play around with.
