Inman {Family} – Concordia, Missouri Photographer

I had so much fun with this family for this session, even the evening was off to a bit of a rocky start (more on that below). The session was purchased a couple of months ago by our friend Eric to give to his mother for Mother’s Day. Cheryl and I were able to get the session set up quickly and able to pick a time that worked for everyone.

As a Concordia, Missouri photographer, I spend a I try to get to sessions early so that I can get settings adjusted and be able to chat with the family for a bit before starting. Well, not this time. The Inmans live out in the country, and Google maps was not pulling up their address. I was able to get directions from my boyfriend, but I misinterpreted them and/or they weren’t precise enough for my literal self. There was a point that geographically could have been considered a T in the road, but in reality was a crossroads. The road continued across the gravel that I was to turn left on and turned into a farm road that went between two fields. I called Justin explain the conundrum, and he suggested we FaceTime so he could help me figure out where I was. I was in the process of turning around on the road that was now mostly mud with not a single gravel rock in sight and I stopped mid-turn to press the FaceTime button. Big mistake. My car was now stuck parallel across the field road in all of the mud with four miles to empty. Eric came to the rescue and helped me get out of the sticky situation by PUSHING MY CAR WHILE IN HIS CLOTHES FOR PICTURES!!! Thankfully, he didn’t fall in the mud right before the session. That would have been atrocious. Then, while talking with the family, I dropped my relatively new 85mm lens. Thankfully, the lens was okay and continues to function normally. I got lucky. The actual session went off with out a hitch and I was so happy with the photos from the time spent with the Inmans. When I left though, I was terrified I was going to end up stranded on gravel, because (as my luck would have it) I left their house with zero miles to empty, four percent battery life on my phone, and no charger in the car. Luck continued to be on my side as I made it to the gas station and home in one piece, but it was definitely an interesting evening.
