I’m so excited to share this Missouri River spring wedding with you today! I have absolutely loved getting to know Haylee and Blake over the past few months! Haylee was a bridesmaid in Abby + Holden’s wedding in October and I met Blake at their engagement session. I love getting to know my couple’s before their big day!
Missouri River spring wedding | Haylee + Blake
After a ridiculously rainy week, we were incredibly blessed with around 60° and sunshine all day long. There was a slight breeze, but honestly for a wedding in March we could not have hoped for better weather. Eagle Bluff is as always gorgeous and it’s just beautiful to be able to look out over the river during the wedding. We even were able to do a few bride and groom shots down in the lower field where we can really see the river in the back.
I did use two rolls of Portra 800 film that I’ve sent off, and I am so excited to get those images back. Film is really great in direct sunlight, and really bright situations for being able to retain those background details so I’m really excited to see what those look like!
The details were phenomenal. Haylee had a box ready for me whenever I got there and that is always so helpful to have everything in one place. The reception was already fully decorated so I could get all of those untouched reception photos. It was gorgeous! And, Melanie, Haylee’s mom made all of the pies for the wedding day and as you’ll see in the photos, there are tons of these tiny little pies and they were delicious.
Haylee and Blake opted not to share a first look for their wedding day, and that is always my couple’s choice whether to or not. She said that she was inspired by some of the photos from Abby and Holden’s wedding and Holden’s reaction to seeing Abby for the first time. And, while she might not have thought that Blake would have a similar reaction – oh boy, did he ever! It was definitely one of the highlights of the ceremony to see how moved he was to see his bride coming down the aisle towards him.
After the ceremony we tackled wedding party photos, family and the bride and groom portraits – which are always my favorite photos of the day. The wind was working in our favor, and would blow Haylee’s veil back from her face or make her hair move just to give us a little bit of movement in the photos, which is always incredible. Shannon with Eagle Bluff Ranch actually has a few behind the scenes videos of me during this portion of the day. I get incredibly enthusiastic and a little bit weird whenever I’m taking bride and groom photos and the audio is both hilarious and slightly mortifying.
Their day was unbelievably magical, and I loved every part of it from getting ready and having Roxy, their sweet pup (I met her at engagement photos and she’s the best), to having our wedding party photos and some family photos done before hand to the reception to Haylee and Blake’s first dance – the day was amazing. These two had been taking dancing lessons and surprised everyone with a choreographed first dance which was just incredible and so fun to watch and photograph and be a part of during their celebration.
To Haylee, Blake, and your families,, thank you so much for allowing me to capture these precious memories for you! I wish you all a lifetime of happiness, and I can’t wait to see you all continue to grow together!
