Favorite five things about summer

There are so many great things about summer, and I love how much there is to do. It was hard to pick just five things that are my favorite about summer, and I’m sure you all could name many more! Read on to see what I love most about this toasty, sun-drenched season.

1. The long days

I love how much daylight there is during the summer. Winter has it’s own great things, but it is disheartening when it gets dark at 5 p.m. I love how there is so much time after I get off work to get things done or be outside. And the summer sunsets are so pretty, and the golden hours are gorgeous.

2. All the activities

It feels like summer is always super, crazy busy. My nephews t-ball games, lake trips, weddings, events on the weekends, golf leagues… the list goes on and on! I love having so much to do, and all the extra activities mean we get to see family members more often.

3. Swimming

I have always loved to swim, and it’s especially fun with this little guy! I was a lifeguard for years and spent many summers poolside. Between guarding during the day, and swim lessons before and after operating hours, I pretty much lived at the pool.

4. Couples league

We golf every Thursday, even when it’s like a million degrees outside or sometimes when there’s thunder and lightning. I love getting to spend time doing something together that we both enjoy. Justin is more into golf than I am, but couples league is so much fun. We scramble (use whoever’s ball is best) and it’s a great way to take the pressure off of having a great shot every time.

5. Ice cream

I am one of those people who will eat ice cream year round (especially my new addiction, Halo Top). But there is something so satisfying about having an ice cream cone on a nice summer day. 🙂 Ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, sorbet, gelato – I love it all.
