Favorite five things about living together

This December will mark three years that Justin and I have lived together. It honestly feels like I just came over one day to hang out, and didn’t leave. For those of you who don’t know, Justin and I did not buy this house together. He bought the house about a year and a half before I moved in, but I like to think that the two of us have made quite a home for ourselves here.

Several home improvement projects, three Christmases, about half a dozen birthday’s between us, the loss of my 14-year-old dog, and the adoption of our furbaby Banner – we’ve gone through it all while living together and it’s all brought us closer together. To honor all of that, and our upcoming wedding (!!!) here are my five favorite things about living together.

1. We are in sync about our day-to-day lifestyle

Whether we want to spend the weekend running errands, being bums on the couch or a mixture of both; we always seem to be on the same page. I love when we are able to be bums together all day because we both want to, or when we are both motivated to be ridiculously productive tackling wedding to-dos.

2. All the laughter

Seriously, we giggle about some of the most ridiculous things all the time. I love when he laughs at my terrible, corny jokes. And I love laughing at his puns. We laugh all the time, usually because one of us is being ornery.

3. The home improvement projects

We have loved making this place our own. We have painted pretty much everything. Justin tiled the kitchen floors, backsplash, bathroom floors and shower. He has built so much furniture, multiple things that I have requested. Each thing we do makes this house a little bit more our home. It’s perfect for us. 🙂

4. The time we get to spend together

Coming home to hime at the end of the day is always the best part. Getting to go through this life together is amazing, and wonderful, and I love that we spend so much of it smiling by each others side.

5. Justin’s favorite thing about living together: that we can be together while still doing our own thing

I randomly ask him these questions, usually while I am set up on the couch with my laptop in my lap and headphones in my ears while he is reading on his phone while watching sports or something on ESPN. And I’d have to agree with him. There’s something so nice about just being with each other, but being able to do whatever we want or need to do. We don’t always agree on what to watch, or what’s for dinner, but even if it’s a fend for yourself night, or finding another to entertain ourselves, we are both still usually hanging out together in the living room.
