I met with Karley and Squirt early on Thanksgiving morning for a quick, but slightly chilly, photo session. Thanksgiving was the only time our schedules would line up, and no one is eating a turkey dinner at 8 in the morning. Plus, they are family, and I believe it is important to go above and beyond for family.
Karley picked out some adorable outfits for the two of them, and at the end we did some in Christmas sweaters for their card.
We were out at our family barn, and were interrupted when we first started by Karley’s horse, Bruce. Her horse and mine, named Sissy, are brother and sister. They both roam the property freely, and we drop grain for them daily because they are high maintenance and hay isn’t enough to maintain them. Bruce tried to nibble on a blanket I had thrown over my shoulder after they used it and then walked right in front of the camera. After that, I went up to the barn and fed the unruly beasts, who are really more like oversized puppies.
We tried to incorporate more movement into these photos. I had Karley and Squirt dancing, spinning and running at me. Squirt definitely had more fun with these photos than he did last time.
The one problem with running was that they were running on gravel, and Squirt’s shoes were slick bottomed. He only went down once, and was a complete champ about it. We were able to get him right back up and go at it again.
After running for a bit, Squirt decided he was cold again, so we wrapped them up in the blanket once more.
Karley borrowed my dinosaur sweater, since Squirt loves dinosaurs, and Squirt wore a Grinch sweater I found at Target. The boy loves “The Grinch” right now, and has been watching it since before Thanksgiving.
