Justin and I are not strangers to home renovation. In fact, we love it. We are always talking about what we’d like to do if/when we can build a house. In our current home, we have done a lot of renovating over the last three years. We started in the kitchen, with new cabinets. Then the tile, fresh paint and a new back splash. After that we painted the living room and have since added a few new pieces of furniture to make the space work for us (I’m looking at you bookshelf). We painted the bathroom that same weekend. On a wild hair one weekend we painted what is now my office. The bathroom remodel is the most recent and still ongoing to an extent. We found some things we’d like to update/change. So why not spend a day updating our master bedroom?
But this past week, I came home one day and told Justin I’d like to update the master bedroom. For the past three years I have been crawling in and out the foot of the bed since it was up against the wall. The walls were a dark gold/yellow and short of just putting the furniture in there so we could use it, we didn’t decorate much at all. We had too much furniture in our room to really make it functional.
So we looked online and found a bed frame we liked. Sunday morning we went to pick out paint. That same day we came home, cleared out the room, painted two coats of paint and got the room put back together. It was a long day. Especially since we had to make a second trip to IKEA in as many days. When we were assembling the bed, the slats that support the mattress didn’t fit. I had grabbed queen size instead of king! So after that little detour, (and finding some lamps and nightstands at IKEA as well, we assembled the bed and finished decorating the room.
I absolutely LOVE our new bedroom. It’s so simple and clutter free. I think it honestly is my favorite room in the house now. What do you think?!? And are any of you working on some home renovations?
