When the rain took a break, and the sky was still full of clouds, we walked down the gravel road to a little flower covered hill. After we passed the kiddos across the ditch to keep them out of the mud, and avoided any thorns, we knew this spot was just the perfect place to begin this summer motherhood session.
Photographing my best friend is always so much fun. But you know what’s been even more fun? Watching her become a kickass, awesome mom who loves her children so fiercely.
I’ve known Kali since elementary school. We grew up riding horses together, having sleepovers, running track and just being best friends. Sometimes scheduling photos is the only real chance we get to catch up. I’ve photographed Kali and her family since Kali’s engagement and maternity pictures with Maclyn, and I’ve loved being a part of capturing her family’s legacy.
Maclyn and Kai are always so sweet and such troopers when we move around for all the different locations and poses. I let them take turns being my assistant. Mac took a photo of me. Kai gave me a kiss when we were all done. We played red light, green light. We just try to make the sessions as fun as possible to capture all that raw joy of childhood. I also filmed behind the scenes for a new youtube video, and Maclyn thought it was cool when I talked to the camera.
Kali, you guys absolutely rocked your summer motherhood session! Your outfit choices were some of my absolute favorites. I love the way all the neutral colors paired together, and Maclyn looked like a princess. I hope to see you soon – like before you need more photos. And I also find it hilarious that Kai was able to steal one of Wynn’s diapers. I love you, and I hope you love your pictures!
