The Story of Us: We’re engaged!! – Concordia, Missouri Photographer

We had been in California for a few days enjoying the beach and participating in the Avon39 two-day walk. However, the morning of Monday, September 12, 2016, was the best part of the vacation – the day we became engaged.

The entire weekend, Justin had to deal with question after question about when we were going to get married. Sine we were sleeping in a common room and woke up as the majority of the group was getting ready to head out and go to the airport. After saying our goodbyes, we began the dreadful packing process. As we were finishing up, Justin asked if we could go to the beach one last time.

He had never seen the ocean prior to our trip. When he asked, my only thought was of course we can go down there again. I love the beach and think the ocean is gorgeous, so I was more than happy to spend some extra time soaking up the surroundings.

As we walk through the sand, there is some walking their puppy down beach. The puppy runs up to us and as it goes back to its owner. While we were standing there, I make Justin take a selfie with me with the waves in the background. I was completely oblivious that he could be planning anything.

After I put my phone away, I was watching the dog and owner walking down the beach, when I see movement from the corner of my eye. As I turn back towards Justin, he is down on one knee with a ring box open. “Will you marry me?”

I beginning crying tears of joy and kissing him. Apparently, don’t actually say yes, because he has to follow-up with “Is that a yes?” At which point, I am so excited (and can’t believe that was even a question) that I put the ring on my finger while saying yes instead of letting him do that part.

I am so excited to spend my life with this man, and so excited to see what the future holds for us. I will try to post every now and again about how wedding planning is proceeding, so stay tuned! 🙂
