Rechterman Family | Kai is one!

cow farm family session

My best friend’s youngest child turned one this month and we had so much fun celebrating with some photos and a cake smash. I love this family so much, and enjoy any opportunity that I get to photograph them. From maternity sessions, to fresh 48 and milestones (and their wedding!) we’ve been through it all. We decided for Kai’s first birthday we wanted to do a cow farm family session, so we ventured out to one of their pastures to get some pictures with the herd. Jon would drop food for them and honk the horn for all the cows to come running. Maclyn loved seeing all the cows, and we even mooed at a few of them. Kai loves anything Maclyn loves, so we knew our key to success with his photos was for Maclyn to laugh – even if it was pretend.

When we got back to the house we did a few more photos (we weren’t too keen on sitting in the cow pasture with cow patties and all). A couple of Kali and Jon’s dogs decided to crash the photos and even cooperated for a couple!

Kali and Jon, thank you for always allowing me to be a part of your story and capture these moments. I love being able to photograph some of my favorite people over and over again as their family grows and changes. You guys are always so fun to hang out with and your kids are amazing, hilarious and just so great to be around. Also – Maclyn and Kai’s facial expressions are incredible! I loved this cow farm family session and hope you do too!
