Project365 – Week 4

Day twenty-two: June 25, 2015. On Thursdays, Justin and I play in a couples golf league. These two Avengers are his head covers for his driver and his three-wood. He enjoys super hero movies as much as I do.

Day twenty-three: June 26, 2015. Had an absolute blast with these two this evening for an awesome mother/daughter shoot! Golden hour and the weather were kind to us and we were able to get in quite a few shots. Maely was a trooper, but I am guilty of photographing the melt down that happened. Her pouting face was just too cute.

For this shot I used my 85mm F/1.4 lens. Settings were ISO 160, F/2.2, and 1/640 shutter speed. I kept the 85mm on for the majority of the session, but we got a little creative after dark and I used my 50mm F/1.8. Those shots turned out pretty good, but I definitely need the practice there. More to come on that front soon.

I’ve been researching ways to make my photography business more successful lately, and working to implement some new practices in regards to marketing, social media and the way I approach obtaining new clients. I’ve been joining forums, working on being listed on different registries and watching/reading tutorial after tutorial. I’m trying to apply the things I can, but some of it costs more money than I have to spend right now. I’ve been working on my goals for the next 12 months, and finding a way to take photography full-time is definitely at the top of that list.

Rocky Branch Photography is my dream. I love spending my time making sure someone else’s doesn’t slip through their fingers, that they are able to keep the important memories for generations to come.

Day twenty-four: June 27, 2015. Took my camera on Banner and I’s walk this evening to try to capture some outside of my comfort zone pictures. And we didn’t see anything, other than people at CreeMee Freeze. So I used my 50mm to get some pictures of Banner on our walk, because there can never be too many photos of him.

I’m going to try to start not only having my camera with me everywhere, but having my camera out with me everywhere. I wasn’t out and about much today. I was with a friend who had hip surgery a week ago and needed someone to be there with her during the day. She wouldn’t have appreciated me trying to get some candids of her while we were hanging out, so I didn’t turn my camera on. I did help her get ready for a wedding this evening and thought about doing one then.

My hope for keeping my camera out and with me always is that I will become a more agile photographer by putting myself in different lighting situations. I am also trying to find a mentor, someone who will let me work with them as a second shooter or help me develop my skills to become the best I can be.

Day twenty-five: June 28, 2015. My nephew was excited to see Justin and I today. He and his mom had been in Texas for the week, spending time on the beach. He ran around, and then had to play us a little song on the piano. I’ve had three photo sessions in the past two weeks and another the first Monday in July. I hope this trend continues. View my site, www.rockybranchphotography.com for session info! 🙂

Day twenty-six: June 29, 2015. Banner’s new harness came today! He had pretty much grown out of his first harness and this was needed. I’m having a hard time finding inspiration for photos. Banner is easier because I’m always with him. I took my camera on a walk with Banner on Saturday, but trying to handle Banner and my camera didn’t go to well. I need to start writing down ideas for photos as I get them and hope that will help.

Day twenty-seven: June 30, 2015. Preparing for the Fourth of July and all the fireworks shots with some sparklers. Banner stepped on a one that had broken apart and yelped, and another one fell in some dry leaves. Suffice it to say, I got out the hose and drenched the whole area I was in because with my luck, a fire would have started.

Day twenty-eight: July 1, 2015.

It has rained so much here it is ridiculous. It is raining currently. Some farmers are just now planting beans, and it took forever to get corn in because getting sunny days (or heck at least days that it wasn’t raining) back-to-back have been few and far between. Roads were closed last week because roads and bridges were flooded over.

I went out to the backyard with Banner this evening and had been taking macro shots of water droplets on leaves when I noticed the one bloom on our rose bushes and decided it was much prettier.
