Mini session or Full session: Which is right for you?

One of the biggest questions I get from clients is, “mini session or full session?” That’s a totally valid question! So let’s talk about mini session or full session – which is right for you? A mini session is a smaller investment than a full session, but you get more with a full session than you do with a mini session.. Does this sound like you? I’m here to help!! Below, I’m sharing how to know what kind of session to book! Don’t forget to snag my free guide, How to prepare for your family session!

The difference between a mini or a full session

First, a quick definition of what each session entails. A mini session is 15 minutes, usually back-to-back with other mini sessions. They include 5 high resolution images delivered in an online gallery with the option to purchase more. A full session is around 1 hour, includes around 60 images and a photo album that we design together after your session.

When to book a mini session

Mini sessions are great for family photos, anniversary photos, and photos of just the kids. Because of their 15 minute session time allotment, these sessions are upbeat and fast-paced to get a variety of joyful images for your gallery. Doing mini sessions during busy seasons means I get to serve more families. When I book a full session on a Saturday in October, that’s the only session I have that day. When I book 15-minute mini sessions for three hours on a Saturday in October, I get to serve 12 families with fall photos just in time for holiday cards to go out!

When to book a full session

Full sessions are great for extended family sessions, maternity photos, and engagement or couples photos. For extended family sessions, the time is always needed to make sure we get all the different groupings photographed. And, for maternity photos or engagement and couples photos, having an hour together is so great for getting you a ton of variety and allowing for an outfit and/or location change.
