If any of you follow along with my #project365 posts on my personal Instagram, you see plenty of photos of Banner. He’s my 80-pound lap dog who loves to snuggle. Part of my about me talks about how I want to adopt all the dogs (seriously, I send Justin photos of dogs I want to adopt almost daily), so I thought I would take a few minutes to explain why I love being a dog mom so much. 🙂
1. Always having someone to hang out with
I have no problem being alone, but it’s nice to always have Banner with me so that I’m never really home alone. I know he would alert me to anyone coming up to the house, and it’s just such a nice sense of security.
2. How happy he is to see me everyday
Seriously, how awesome is it that dogs get so excited when you come home? Even if you’ve only been gone for 15 minutes! Banner is always so excited for me to get home, and it just makes me feel so loved. We have to have a little talk everyday when I walk in where I tell him to give me a minute to put my things down, then I can pet him. He’s not one for waiting patiently.
3. He’s an excellent cuddler
He loves to cuddle. If he’s sleepy, and hops up right next to one of us and snuggles up to take a little nap. When we go to bed, he has to be laying right against one of us (and often times between us).
4. He’s so smart!
He knows quite a few tricks and commands, but more than that he also picks up on our moods or feelings. Whenever I am sick, he just snuggles with me like he’s trying to make me feel better. He knows how to gauge our moods to know if it’s okay to run amok, or if he needs to just relax.
5. He’s always a willing #project365 subject
Whenever I get my camera out, he knows we are going to take pictures. He’s usually a pretty good sport about it, and I only have to hold sticks above my head sometimes.
