Your engagement album is the ultimate wedding guest book | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

One of my favorite things to do for my clients is to create albums of their images. And today I want to tell you why your engagement album is the ultimate wedding guest book, and give you a tip or two! I mean, what better way to show off your images and create a guest book you’ll actually look at over the years!? Does this sound like a good idea to you? I’m here to help!!

A great way to show off your engagement photos

Reason number 1 why your engagement album is the ultimate wedding guest book? You can show off all your engagement photos! I love having engagement sessions with my clients as a way for us to get to know each other and get comfortable before the wedding day. And if couples aren’t using them for save the dates, some don’t know what to do with their photos. So, viola: a guest book!

Leave white space for signatures

I am always SO HAPPY to design your album for you, but if you are doing it yourself with a third party (also always okay!!) then make sure to leave some white space around your images for signatures and well wishes. This way people don’t need to write on your photos and potentially cover them up. 🙂

Boom: your engagement album is the ultimate wedding guest book

It really is that simple. The size of the album is completely up to you. The album pictured here is a lay flat album, and this means that it opens completely flat so that no image detail is lost in the gutter. It is an 8×8 album. For our wedding, we did an engagement photo guest book and we chose to print a 10×10. The lay flat album portion is crucial for making signing easier for guests so they aren’t trying to hold it open and potentially smear someone else’s signature.

Also, I really recommend fine point Sharpies. You’re going to want a permanent marker, but you also want it to feel like a pen so you can read what people write, and so they don’t have to write too big when signing. 🙂
