Baby Rechterman | One-year cake smash in Higginsville, Mo.

Strawberry cake with white icing and rainbow sprinkles. That was her first taste of cake a week before her first birthday. It was a cool (but not cold) winter day, and the little blue-eyed beauty was about to turn one. She walked about the house while we set up for her cake smash. Her brown hair falls across her forehead as she whispers while she walks.

Oh this little girl is such a trip. She has to be one of the happiest little girls I know, and I love making her laugh. Even if she wasn’t too interested in the cake, it was adorable to watch her investigate the icing and sprinkles all over her hands.

Kali and Jon, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and the life of your little girl. She’s such a joy to be around, and I love watching her face light up with a smile. I’m not too sorry if my influence (like when we growl and chase each other) makes her weird, because all the best people are. I adore her toothy smiles, the way her face lights up when either of you enter a room, and her crazy hair.

And one of the bath after to get all of the icing off of her!
