I loved this cake smash + a quick Christmas card shoot combo from the end of November. Baby Cottrill is so adorable and his personality is incredible. He’s feisty, giggly and smart; and it’s the perfect combination!
I set up a backdrop stand and some props at their home and we decided to do the Christmas card photo with his brother prior to him being covered in cake. I LOVE how much he enjoyed the oversized ornaments.
When it was time to change, we made the mistake of getting his cupcake out a bit too early. He was growling and fighting his mother while she worked to get him into his precious bow tie and suspenders, all so he could get that sweet treat.
I adored that he didn’t want to get his hands messy, and instead resorted to eating like Ellie, the families fur baby.
I wish we’d had more natural light for the session, but it was a rainy miserable weekend and as a Concordia, Missouri photographer I am quite used to dealing with fickle mother nature–especially this late in the season.
Baby Cottrill really only used his hands if his mother handed him the cake, and then proceeded to pick up the crumbs he dropped instead of getting a new bite.
