The Adventures of JI & Kels – Heading to the airport for our honeymoon

We waited to leave until Monday afternoon for our honeymoon. It was just our personal choice, and we wanted to be able to see people Sunday before they left … as well as recover from all that celebrating! My Mom took us to the airport so we wouldn’t have to leave the car parked there for so many days.

Our first flight was overbooked, and we missed our boarding group because I was busy talking (whoops!), but we made it on in time to make sure our carry-ons didn’t have to be checked. Then when we got to Charlotte, it took forever for us to get off the plane. There was literally a line of planes waiting to get to their gates. When we finally got off, we did a mad dash to the gate, only to get there and realize the gate had been changed! We made it to the plane with plenty of time, luckily, and ended up sitting on the plane for ages before takeoff. It was definitely the biggest airplane I have ever been on.

When in Rome

The trip was a bit rough, I won’t lie. It is terrible being stuck in one place without being able to stretch your legs out or really get comfortable. We managed to get a little sleep, but the past few days have definitely been catching up with us. When we arrived at the airport, we were both so glad to be off the plane! A shuttle to the terminal, and we met our shared ride to the airport as we exited. We drove around Rome, and made it to the hotel a little before noon. Justin and I definitely did our best to drop things off and get going for the day, but we may have snuck in a nap for about 2 hours in the mid afternoon before going out exploring again. Check back next week for our three days in Rome, and to read about our first ordering blunder!! (Face palm emoji would be appropriate here.)
