Okay, so the title is a little confusing. Of course you’re going to try on your wedding dress! You try it on during your first bridal appointment to pick it out. You try it on when you go to pick up the dress specifically ordered for you! You take the dress to be altered and try it on there as well. But hear me out!!!
I want to give you three reasons why you should try on your wedding dress OUTSIDE of the bridal salon or alterations location before your wedding day. I know this might sound a little bit silly, but trust me! And besides, who doesn’t want to try on their dress as many times as possible!?
1. How long does it take to get into your wedding dress and completely fastened up?
If your dress is a lace up, button up or even a simple zipper, knowing how long it takes to get into your dress is important! When we work on your custom timeline for the day, having this information will make sure that we allow enough time for you to get dressed.
Plus, it allows your mom and/or maid of honor to assist you and get an idea of how things are supposed to fit, where your bustle is and if they need something like a crochet hook for all those buttons down your back. Practicing before your wedding day can help everyone feel more relaxed and keep us on time.
If you aren’t able to practice, don’t worry! We will make any adjustments to the timeline that you need!
2. Check the fit and make sure everyone is on the same page about how the dress should look
When you try your dress on in the bridal boutique, the employees there know how the dress is supposed to fit. If you try your dress on with your mom and/or maid of honor outside of the boutique everyone will have a better idea of what the dress is supposed to look like before you walk down the aisle. We all just want you to be happy and comfortable in your dress.
And remember, most importantly, your dress is supposed to fit YOU. You should never have to fit yourself into a dress or change anything about yourself for a dress.
3. Because it’s fun to try on your wedding dress
Most brides only wear their dress on their wedding day! If my dress were easier to get into (buttons all down the back and the cuffs on my sleeves), I would wear it all the time. I absolutely love my dress!! I definitely did put it back on during our first anniversary. I wanted to continue, but being 7 months pregnant during our second, breastfeed during our third and in the midst of moving during our fourth I haven’t had the opportunity to again. Getting to try on your wedding dress before the wedding day can be so much fun and add to the excitement.
