Alumbaugh {Family} – Concordia, Missouri Photographer

We celebrated my nephew’s fifth birthday with a mommy and me photo session of him and Karley. The amount of love and laughter that these two bring out in each other is so wonderful to see and brings me so much joy. It’s what I love about being a family photographer. They are some of my favorite people, as well as favorite people to photograph, and I will gladly capture their memories any chance I get.

Their outfit choices (or should I say Karley’s choices for their outfits – Squirt did not pick out his own on this one) were the perfect amount of coordinating and not too matchy-matchy. Karley’s flower headband is adorable and brings a pop of color perfect.

He is such a little ham and loved kissing all over his momma’s face. At one point, he took a running start to launch himself at her and give her kisses. Capturing photos that show their love makes me so happy to be able to photograph families.

We stayed close to their home, and Squirt much preferred the gravel road to the tall grass. He was convinced there were snakes that would get him if even one piece of grass touched him. I had a blanket in the car, and we tossed that on the ground to create a “safe haven,” and to keep the grass from itching their legs. Squirt was not at all happy that he had to walk in and out of the field by himself instead of getting carried.

I love the photos in the tall grass and the way we were able to use the beginning of the golden hour to get some incredible light. I love backlighting and getting that sunny goodness behind my subjects.
