There’s something about freezing a moment in time, knowing that it is yours to keep and always look back on. That would have to be the part I love most about photography. Every second that passes; every day, week, month that goes by – that moment will always be there to look upon again, to remember how you felt, who was there, and what the moment meant.
Life can go by in the blink of an eye, and I feel photos breathe life back into moments and memories – allowing us to revisit the way we felt amid the things we experienced. It’s why there’s a photographer for all the big moments.
I’m sure this is something every photographer loves, but I’m documenting the greatest adventure I’ll ever have. My life to live as I please and spend with whom I choose. I love capturing the beauty of an everyday moment that can be found in the picture of making waffles with my nephew, playing with my dog, and everyday life.
Photography is a form of art. I was never the girl with pretty handwriting and creative sketches. I tried art and ceramic classes in school. I had an inkling of musical ability, but no passion to religiously play. However, put that camera in my hand and I could play with the settings in attempt to make the camera see or capture the emotion I see all day. I live for being able to create and love that what I create is so important to another person. I love being able to serve them and create artwork that tells the story of their lives. Every story deserves to be told. I love being able to create art that has meaning to my clients. I love taking my camera to family events and capturing my own family enjoying each other company and the changes that happen from year to year.
It’s more than just the little moments though. It’s the posed sessions too. It’s helping people create the photos that they want to use to remember this time in their life – whether it is their engagement or a family photo before the holidays. It’s the way a couple or family interacts together. Moments are gone in a flash, and photography is a way to say, “Except that moment. That moment is mine to keep.” It’s showing family, both present and future, the images that tell the story of their life and the wonderful years they have lived.
