It has been an amazing journey to tell this sweet girl’s arrival. From the maternity session, to her birth, to her in-home newborn session, it has been incredible.
I set up in front of some windows and opened all the blind to let in as much soft, natural light as I could. Baby Soendker was asleep when I arrived, but that didn’t last long. She apparently decided I was so interesting she should stay awake while I was there.
Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, that adorable little girl did not make it easy to get her into many poses. Even after Mallory fed her, she slept right up until we laid her down. I had set up a space heater to keep her warm, so I don’t think she was cold. She seemed content to take in her surroundings.
We also made sure to get a few in her nursery. Cory helped to paint the room. There are clouds on the sky and the sun shinning in the corner over her crib.
Mallory said she is never usually awake that long, but I was more than happy to see her beautiful eyes. I think her newborn session went well even without the typical sleeping baby poses. Her big (four-legged and furry) sister, Bella, came out as I was packing up my things. Bella proceeded to lick baby girl’s head, giving her all kinds of kisses. It was as if she was worried about her after being separated for a few hours.
I try to make it as easy as possible on the moms by bringing all of my gear to their home. Justin helped me create a portable PVC pipe backdrop frame that I can use for various things like blankets or paper backdrops. I also have a bean bag to pose the baby on, various colors of wraps, and some other props for the session. As a Concordia, Missouri photographer without a studio, it just makes sense for me to travel to my clients. Everything they will need for the baby is at their home.
