Baby Boy Rechterman | In-home newborn session

“I love his noises,” his mom told me. He slept peacefully in his bassinet while everyone was in motion around him. Dishes were being washed. His sister quietly played with Play-Doh. His mom finished a few last-minute touches while his dad changed clothes. Baby boy was unfazed by it all – dozing with his arms spread out by his head. Jon and Kali – your family is amazing and I am unbelievably happy for you. 🙂

When the commotion died down, it was time to start – another session with Jon and Kali’s family – now with the glorious chaos of life with two under two. Their daughter’s personality is guaranteed to make everyone smile. Although there were definitely times she would rather play with a foam golf club – her parent’s said anything other than foam was too dangerous – than have her photo taken, but that’s okay. My favorite thing about hanging out with Jon and Kali’s family was seeing how amazing their daughter is doing as a big sister. She called her brother “my baby” while Jon was changing his diaper and it was so sweet. (I’m not crying, you’re crying.)

I have been photographing the Rechterman family since before the were the Rechterman family. Engagement and wedding, maternity and a year of their daughter’s life; and now we are on the same path with their son. Jon and I joked about how often we do photos. “Too often,” he said. With Fresh 48, newborn, and then every three months – he’s not wrong. I love being able to tell the story of my best friend’s life, and I’m so grateful for the chance. Enjoy. 🙂
